Pretend Pinterest Mum

I had a brilliant idea the other day and as usual I got excited and instead of waiting to get the ‘best’ materials for the job I just went ahead and used the random stuff at home.

A received a puzzle on Opposites as a gift not too long ago. It’s really cool with 24 opposites depicted in picture form. She liked looking at the pictures but doesn’t have the patience to sort through the 48 cards to match them up. I was finding pieces of the puzzle under the sofa, on the bed, etc. I didn’t want it to get lost before she had a chance to really enjoy using it (This happens often when toys are opened before they are age appropriate) so I decided to make a puzzle board.

This was my starting point.
And this is what it turned into:

The paint is still a bit wet in this pic hence the patchiness but I think it looks quite cool. My next step is to get some Velcro and attach it to the opposite puzzle pieces and the board. So she can pick a piece, search for it on the board and then stick it in place. When she’s done we can take them all out and start again 🙂

  1. I LOVE that idea!!! Actually, thank you SO MUCH for this, because we have a puzzle set that has two words/pictures that rhyme, and the two pieces also have a unique key piece so they fit together. My 3yo has about 12% of the patience required to do this, and I’ve been trying to figure out how to get her to do it. This board is the solution – yeehaw! Brilliant job!
