  • A Day In The Life Of A Work From Home Mum

    29/01/2018

In case you missed it : Part 1 in the series – ‘A Day in the Life of a Stay at Home Mum’  I was so happy when my friend Carly agreed to let me spy on her feature her in this series. She has done what most of us aspire to, taken a fun project and turned it into a start-up that she can run from home. Carly has her fantastic blog, Mom of Two Little Girls, and she is also the guru behind Blue Media Edit where she provides social media coaching as well as editing and proofreading. She is incredibly organised and determined and if Carly wasn’t a dedicated…

  • 2018 Goals (The long version)

    31/12/2017

I am a terrible goal setter. Mostly because my memory sucks and I forget where I wrote them down 😂 So I’m going to leave this list right here for me to come back and assess my progress during the year. #1 – Drop a dress size<<< s may not seem like a lot to do, it's just one size right? Ha! I have been struggling to drop this size for two years!! I am a size 36 or a L depending on the size table. I know this isn't huge and it's a very reasonable size to be but it's not a comfortable size for me. The biggest problem…

The morning that I met Cheryl was rough. I had been up since 5am with my little one who had woken twice that night for feeds she didn’t need and I was exhausted. Ten minutes after chatting to Cheryl, I felt awake, invigorated and excited about life. She is the human version of a glass of champagne; pretty, bubbly and she just makes you feel happier.  Cheryl is a mum to a twenty year old step-daughter and an almost two year old son. She waited a really long time for her little boy to make his arrival, seven years in fact, and he is the reason that she left her…

I was quite intrigued when I received Debbies e-mail. She runs two very different businesses from home. The first is her own Graphic Design business. Debbie was a Design Head and Brand Custodian before she had her first child. She managed the account for one of the biggest retailers in SA and like many mums (myself included) she expected to step right back into her job once her maternity leave was over. Being a mum changes your priorities though and Debbie went back to work but as a half day position. Anyone who has converted their role from a full day to a half day in the same company will know that what…

I am definitely not a clichè Indian. I hardly ever cook curry, dont watch Bollywood movies and I own half of a Punjabi. Apparently I have an accent but if anyone agrees with that I will unfriend you instantly. Joking! (Not really) However, when I met Seimani (her name rhymes with Germany in case you were wondering how to pronounce that) she brought me a sample pack of her Preggsons Spices products and I confess I smelt that Kashmiri masala about six times. I kept putting it down then picking it up to smell it again like I had OCD. It smells amazing! The masala mix is her dad, Preggie’s special concoction…

  • Who am I?

    24/12/2016

The situation came to a head the other night. Lots has happened.  I am no longer nursing my daughter. I just couldn’t take it anymore. My sense of self was being chipped away and it was taking its toll not just on me but also my family. My husband was miserable seeing me cry every night from exhaustion and a baby who just wouldn’t stop drinking a few sips at a time. I didn’t have time for my toddler because I was always nursing. I felt like I was spending days at a time sectioned off in my bedroom, all alone, nursing the little one. I was not happy. That’s…

  • Starting a start up…

    14/10/2016

My husband’s baby is now open to the public. This has been his focus for the past few years with a number of seemingly insurmountable hurdles along the way but he persevered and I couldn’t be more proud. It is an accommodation website with the potential to blow the industry wide open. Check out the link below.  Almost there… – everyencountr
